Name of Assignment: Environmental Engineering Slideshow Subject: Computer Science Facilitator/Teacher: Mr. Murali
Description of Work/Assignment: We were assigned to complete a slideshow with the students choice of engineering. I decided to choose environmental engineering because that’s what most interests me. Environmental Engineers strive to improve air and water pollution, water wastage, recycling and public health. We needed to write about the basic information and important facts.
Which 21st Century Skill do you feel this assignment addresses, and why? The 21st century skill I used was financial, economic, and business literacy. I used this skill for the slides that required me to write about the degree you need to graduate with to be an environmental engineer. I also used this skill when writing about the business portion of the assignment.
What are you most proud of from this assignment, and why? For this assignment, the part that I am most proud of was the layout of the slideshow. I chose a theme and followed throughout the slideshow and it looks professionally done. When I select a theme when creating a slideshow, I feel that it looks more put together.
How did you develop and/or improve upon your 21st Century Skill with this assignment? I improved financial, economic, and business literacy skill by researching different business opportunities and college degrees. It gave me a better sense of understanding on the 21st century skill and now I am more familiar with the topic.
What was most difficult about completing this task? The most difficult part of completing this slideshow was finding interesting and fun facts about this genre of engineering. I found the basics and the concept of environmental engineering, but not many fun facts.
How could you improve this work? If you could start over, what would you do different? If I could start the slideshow over or improve it, I would add more pictures. Pictures give the viewers a better understanding of the different categories that fall under environmental engineering.
How does this relate to what you have learned in the past? This slideshow doesn’t particularly relate to what I have learned in the past. In the past we worked on many slideshows and last year we studied engineering.
How can you apply this to future learning? I can apply this activity in college. Being familiar with google slides, researching, putting together a professional slideshow, and presenting are helpful tasks for college or future jobs.
