Hawaiian Studies and humanities is taught by the same teacher, so the classes get combined together. For hawaiian studies we had to choose a hawaiian person that is well known is history or did something to benefit the islands. I chose Eddie Aikau because I already knew some facts about him and he is someone that I have heard about. For the project we had to write and essay about a day in the persons life. For Eddie I chose the last day in his life, the day he died. I gathered up some facts about him and created the story out of my best knowledge of how I think his last day went. We also had to create a portrait of the person. I don't have a picture of the portrait I created, but I have a similar one that I found online.
Outcome of the Project
The essay I wrote turned out well. Our hawaiian studies teacher actually wrote an email to the creative writing teacher and asked her to put me in writers workshop after reading the essay. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1n_67oQ3QlXu59BPq28-ZUROAWV84_Abt5SbYY9g7mv8/edit?usp=sharing I added the link above if you would like to read the essay. Down below is a picture of how the portrait I drew of Eddie looked like.
