Low Impact Development (LID) is an approach to land development that uses various land planning and design practices and technologies to conserve and protect natural resource systems and reduce infrastructure costs. LID still allows land to be developed, but in a cost-effective manner that helps mitigate potential environmental impacts.

For this project I definitely used communication skills. This was our first group project for sustainable science and we were assigned teams of four. As a team we had to communicate about how we want to create our design plan, and assign sections of the project to each person. We did however run into a few obstacles and without thorough communication this project would not have been successful. For starters the instructions for this project were not very informative. There was a lot of blanks in what we were essentially supposed to do, so all of us had a hard time beginning the project. The only person in our group who slightly understood the assignment dropped the class and the other member didn't help with one thing and also never talked. So, that left the four of us. We had to create a LID (low impact development) sight plan which included a tourist base, residential element, commercial property, and common features. We created a 3D design on sketch app, which included all of those items and an underwater drainage system.
